From collection to collection, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana draw inspiration from their native lands: Naples, Portofino, Capri, Venice, Rome&hellip; But it was Sicily that always remained the main axis for the flight of design imagination. Domenico Dolce was born in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily. And this island became the foundation of the brand's entire aesthetic. Craft techniques, shades of the local nature, family traditions of the Italian island and its great history &mdash; all this the duo reviewed, "reinvented" and presented on the podium a dozen times. But every time it's in a new way, sexy and brutal at the same time.

Goethe wrote that "Sicily is the key to everything." It was this quote that the house of Dolce &amp;Gabbana made in the press release of the spring-summer 2027 show as part of the Milan Men's Fashion Week. The collection itself was named the Vacanze Siciliane &mdash; "Sicilian holidays". On the giant screen behind the podium, the views of Taormina and Bella Island alternated: dawn, then the bright midday sun, turquoise water. The guests, exhausted by Milan's June heat, looked at it as a promise of a carefree vacation soon.

Sicily, as interpreted by Dolce and Gabbana, is a mixture of cultures and a history of conquest: Greeks and Romans, Normans and Arabs, Spaniards and Bourbons. From this mix, an abundance of decorations is born: pendants and charms, brooches and beads, jewelry imitating corals &mdash; the main treasures of the Sicilian sea. All this appeared on soft pantsuits and ripped jeans in the spirit of the early noughties. The aesthetics of the 2000s were once the hallmark of the Dolce&amp;Gabbana brand &mdash; and, apparently, they are ready to return. The T&mdash;shirts were decorated with images of oranges and lemons, a tribute to the island's citrus orchards, as well as reproductions of Byzantine mosaics, flowers, and sea rocks. (It looks like the prints were generated by AI).

The color scheme was arranged like a landscape: the black that opened the show referred to the volcanic beaches of Stromboli, the pistachio shades to the so-called "green gold" the islands (Sicily is one of the main producers of pistachios in the world!). And beige is associated with the tradition of rope production and hand techniques passed down from generation to generation. The designers described the white exits that closed the show as embodying the "brightest and most radiant side" of the island. They reminded us of the bride's exit at the end of the couture shows. The groom appeared here in a snow-white two-piece with a coral pattern.

The rich and refined techniques of Sicily include mainly those that are considered "feminine". But in the new collection, they look relaxed and brutal. These are crocheted polos, hand-woven suede jackets, shorts and shirts with Sicilian lace embroidery, and black sets with shorts made entirely of lace.
